After the DIPLOMATS cut their first funk record and last DIPLOMATS recording, "SHE’S THE ONE" (released on ten12's Soul Line imprint-SLN 001), the band morphed into SKULL SNAPS, the legendary crown jewel of funky New York in the early- to mid-1970s and a defining force in Hip Hop beats that still linger today. In 1973, the SKULL SNAPS (Sam Culley, Erv Waters, and George Bragg) cut a legendary album containing “It’s a New Day”—one of the most sampled joints in history, close behind the likes of James Brown’s “Funk Drummer” and The Honey Drippers’ “Impeach the President.”

The AUDIBLE DOCTOR and ten12systems team up with the SKULL SNAPS to create their first authorized edit, taking moments from “It’s a New Day”, “Trespassing”, and “I’m Your Pimp” as well as a few tape bits found in Uncle Culley’s closet. The original take of “I’M YOUR PIMP” is spread wide and deep on the B-Side for our friends in Northern Soul, U.K.

Pictures from Skull Snaps' first New York radio appearance in over 30 years on WBAI FM's Underground Railroad with Jsmooth, MonkOne, Emskee (and we can’t forget GMAN and TOMCAT) at www.ten12records.com/photos.php
