Their debut LP The Golden Shower Hour, released in 1998, long considered a cult classic, has been out of print for over 5 years and as we have gotten orders for it every month since then, we negotiated the rights to re-release it.
MC Roughneck Jihad, producer/DJ D-Styles (Invisibl Skratch Piklz/Beat Junkies) and producer/DJ Dufunk formed Third Sight in the South Bay (of the San Francisco Bay Area) in the early 1990s. Often described as having an East Coast underground hip hop sound akin to Company Flow, MF Doom and Kool Keith, but with something else indefinably left-coast.
“Third Sight makes music that reminds me why I got into hip hop in
the first place. ... D-Styles’s production is sick and Jihad’s charismatic flow is the icing on a cake-full of ill lyricism, deep concepts and
general sucka MC thrashing. Conscious, street smart, underground,
next level, whatever. To me it’s just plain dope.”

Co-Founder of Definitive Jux Records and World’s Fair, manager
of El-P
“MC Jihad simply comes with some of the illest metaphors out
there, dropping a slow burning rhyme style that's reminiscent of
Company Flow, complete with the lumbering breakbeat science.”
–
Oliver Wang, founder of soul-sides.com
“I never imagined D-Styles would devise a beat as malicious as ‘Smegma in D Minor,’ an aural hip-hop noir reminiscent of Black
Moon's Enta da Stage. ... Lyrically, Jihad, in accordance with his
name, is on some revolutionary shit; his [rhymes], only once inter
rupted by D-Styles stabbing out "oh, fuck!," drive the track with
murderous personality.”
