Back from a 3 year hiatus, the long awaited, brand new single from DJ/producer Steven Tang is here! This time, with the DJ in mind, Tang has produced an EP geared for dancefloors! At first listen, each track comes with longer intros and outros for DJ mixing. Upon further inspection, lush strings sets the mood and takes you deep; which has become the signature sound of his label, Emphasis.
The single starts off with "Horizons", a Tech-House number that comes right in with everyone's favorite 909 kick drum under a round, rolling bassline reminiscent of a Mr. Fingers track. Then, lush strings fade in to smooth things out. And to top it off, a 303-esque lead rips through at a higher octave; sending the track home.
On the flip, "Space Dance" opens with that 303-esque bassline under darker, brooding strings playing a 3-note chord. This repeats to set the atmosphere, until swirling congas drowned in reverb kicks in with the 808/909 drum set and we have a peak time floor burner. Followed by "Throbbin'", a minimal number with a deep pulsating bassline that bubbles throughout. Tracky, like "Percolator". DJs who are fans of Mr. Fingers, Cajmere, Ron Trent, and DBX can add this to their mix. Chicago/Detroit style at it's best.
