ELECTROFIVE 12"

Generator

GEN029

First launched in 1992, Generator became one of Detroit's most revered techno labels for straight-ahead dancefloor techno. Guided by the multi-talented Alan D. Oldham, Generator boasted inspired releases from himself and Woody McBride, remixes from UK superstar Dave Clarke and seminal first releases by Sean Deason, Marco Passarani, and others.

In 1996, Oldham made the decision to shelve the Generator label in order to devote his full attention to his newly-formed Pure Sonik label.  And now, in 2007, Generator is poised to return. New decade, new sounds.

The first new release on the revamped label is "Elektrofive." Produced by Alan D. Oldham himself, this raw slice of Berlin-inspired elektropunk energy (with vocals and lyrics by Oldham) is a radical sonic departure from the usual loop-based DJ T-1000 material you may be familiar with.  Oldham (aka DJ T-1000) live on tour Spring 2007 in support of release: 13 April - Milan, 14 April - Berlin, 20 April - Rome, 28 April, Gijon, Spain, 25 May - Berlin, and 27 May - Leeds.

As well as the original version, the Chicago-and-Berlin-based Oldham stacks the deck with the help of some old and new school brothers on the remix tip.

Keith Tucker a.k.a. DJ K-1, the A.U.X. mind behind the legendary Detroit electro duo Aux 88, establishes his authority with a deeply catchy, melodic, funky remix. Old-school, yet cutting edge all at once.  Currently, Aux 88 has been playing European dates on the Rated Aux Tour as well as producing the Model 500 live show for 2007's DEMF, releasing two new EPs on Puzzlebox.

Next, the mysterious Detroit duo Ultradyne lends some of their trademark live evil to the proceedings. Think Skinny Puppy meets Kraftwerk meets Afrika Bambataa in a pitch-black Detroit elevator.  Ultradyne is live on tour: 14 April - Belgium, 20 April - London, 21 April - Leipzig. Their new album, "The Wrath of the Almighty," is out in May 07.

Finally, new-school wunderkind Mauser aka Miles Christian blasts off with his first release on Generator! The Chicago-based Christian makes his presence felt with a wicked, Wax Trax-inspired industrial take on "Elektrofive."   Mauser currently has an EP in the works for Generator that's scheduled to drop later this year.

"Elektrofive" will be included on next week's playlist of Dave Clarke's Whitenoise radio show on 3voor12 FM! Listen for yourself @ www.3voor12.vpro.nl.
