CHICAGO UNDERGROUND DEFINITIVE COLLECTION

VOLUME 1

Chicago Underground

CHUN001

Crosstalk and Super Bro are excited to re-introduce one of Chicago's rarest and most over-looked old-school house labels.

Chicago Underground was an off-shoot of Chicago Bad Boys. The Chicago Bad Boys were a fluid association, they included, from time to time, Roy Davis Jr, Steve Poindexter, Armando, Terry Hunter, Gene Hunt, Jamal Moss, Ellery Cole, Brian Harris, and others. So much wrong information is out there is the world that we are taking the opportunity to set the record straight, and give credit where credit is due.

This series, titled "Chicago Underground Definitive Series" will feature both previously released, and unreleased tracks from the archives of Mr Poindexter himself. “Chemistry” is from Chicago Underground (CU6831), “Sex Chants” is from Chicago Bad Boys (CBB6847), “Simple Life” is an unreleased track written in 1993.

For the back story, Chicago Underground and Chicago Bad Boys releases tended to be numbered with the street address where they were written. 6831 was Steve Poindexter’s at the time that the tracks on CU6831 was written, while 6847 was Bobby Wright’s address upstairs when CBB6847 was written.

Maybe someday we’ll give you the story about which legendary producer was priviledged to have Steve Poindexter as his babysitter.
